The Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site

Image
Hello friends! For anyone who read my last blog post , I am back from my adventure in Nova Scotia! I just got back on Saturday (August 6th), but I'm already reminiscing about all of the fun things that we did. We had a great time visiting family, but we also made some amazing memories exploring our own beautiful country. Gosh, there is so much to see.  One of the highlights from our Eastern trip, aside from seeing the Cabot Trail and doing the Skyline Trail, of course, was visiting the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site . I'm not sure which excursion I liked more, to be honest! They both had their perks. What an absolutely breathtaking experience back to the 1700s, though. One of the lines directly from Parks Canada that got me the most when I was researching the Fortress of Louisbourg before going was, "it's so real, it seems surreal". Boy did that ever prove to be true. I didn't feel like I was living in 2022 that's for sure (other than how ho

Raising Awareness for Mental Health - Partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association

Image
BACKGROUND - ABOUT THE CMHA The Canadian Mental Health Association, founded in 1952 is a non-profit, charitable organization with a passion for making mental health achievable for all (CMHA). Committed to being leaders in the field of mental health, the CMHA contributes its knowledge and resources to various provincial policies and provides equitable access to all mental health services (CMHA).  The CMHA has various partner associations, including the CMHA Ontario, a dedicated partner of the foundation that works closely with its 30 local branches across the province (CMHA).  To help raise awareness to the topic of mental health, I will be collaborating with the CMHA Ontario to design a multi-pronged social media strategy that will one day develop into  compelling content.  MY VISION Mental health hits home for me. Through collaborating with the CMHA of Ontario, I hope to reach other young adults who are also struggling with their own mental health and are unsure of where to turn next.

Frustrated Air Canada Passengers Lose Their Patience Amid Unprecedented Airline Crisis

Image
By now, it is no secret that the popular airline Air Canada is having some serious issues. Due to unprecedented circumstances, the company has had to cancel or delay thousands of flights, leaving a great deal of people stranded in airports across the country. Baggage is being lost with unclear times of retrieval, and needless to say people are losing their patience and are beginning to fight back.  Many people have reached out via social media to voice their concerns in hopes that something will be done about these absurd conditions as getting in contact with the company is becoming increasingly difficult.  Many people have begun speaking out, and below are just samples of what people are saying. The topic is getting a lot of attention, even from celebrities, famous sports players, and influencers who are spreading the news across their well-populated pages.   Air Canada lost my bag in JUNE.  @AirCanada   pic.twitter.com/dfsq9gSsxT — Dianna Cowern (@thephysicsgirl)  July 18, 2022 Hello

Woman's Treatment After Brutal Sexual Assault is Enough to Make us All Gag

Image
*this blog post is an edit of an article written by Don Braid and is credited below* This latest case of Angela Cardinal is so offensive to natural justice that it can literally make you gasp, or gag. If this can happen in our courts, what can't happen?  THE STORY  Angela Cardinal, 28-year-old Indigenous woman whose real name can't be used because of court order, was the victim of brutal sexual and physical assault. Despite this, Angela was locked in the Edmonton Remand Centre for five nights during the preliminary hearing into the charges against her assailant, whom had savagely stabbed and beaten her, and yet she still found her self being hauled into court in leg shackles.  ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH  Angela had enough. She knew what the justice system was doing to her was wrong and decided to stand up for herself. In front of the court, she exclaimed, "I'm the victim, and look at me, I'm in shackles", "aren't you supposed to commit a crime to go to jail&qu

Our New Hobby - FISH!

Did anyone else pick up any new hobbies during the pandemic? I know we did! I've always loved fish but never had the time to get an aquarium started up, until Covid came along! I'm so happy we decided to invest in this...I love all of our little creatures! Keep reading to learn all about our aquatic friends. -- We started out with a small tank and a couple fish to keep us entertained, but it has turned into a full time job! We now have a 20 gallon tank with 8 fish (7 Molly’s and 1 Sword) and 2 cleaner fish (not pictured).   We love it though! It’s been quite an entertaining journey needless to say. We even had one fish…wait for it….change genders…YUP! We didn’t even think it was possible, but we took pictures and showed the employees at our local fish store and sure enough, our female Molly fish turned into a boy! So weird. In case you’re wondering, the first fella in the photos is the culprit (he is called a Dalmatian Molly, hence the black and white detailing). He has ended u
